Abstract
This study aimed to become a basic study for the return of spinal cord injury to the community by analyzing the effect of general characteristics on upper limb pain, daily living activities, and quality of life. The survey was conducted from June 2020 to November 2020, for 118 individuals with spinal cord disorders. The outcomes were measured using the evaluation tools NRS, SCIM-III, and WHOQoL-BREF. The differences in daily activities according to the general characteristics of the spinal cord disorder were significantly different based on the onset time, injury level, and ASIA (p<.05). Post-hoc analysis showed that the onset time of pain was significantly different from 12 to 24 months compared to the 6 to 12 months period. Regarding the level of damage, L1-L5 were relatively different from C1-C4 and T1-T12, and C1-C4 and T1-T12 showed a greater difference than C5-C8. ASIA D showed the greatest difference compared to ASIA A-C. The difference in QoL according to the general characteristics was significantly different in the level of damage. The post-hoc results showed a relatively greater significant difference in-L1-L5 than in-C1-C4. This study is meaningful in that the factors affecting upper limb pain, daily living activities, and quality of life according to the general characteristics of spinal cord injury were identified.
